The Spectrum Journey gives you a confidential space to talk through what is happening and receive practical guidance from someone with extensive lived experience.

Starting the Journey Guidance Session

Suitable for

Parents who are noticing signs of neurodivergence or are considering speaking with a health or education professional.

During the session, you can discuss

  • Behaviours or patterns you have noticed

  • Information that may be useful to record

  • Questions to prepare for appointments

  • Professionals or services you may wish to investigate

  • Your immediate concerns and priorities

Post-Diagnosis Parent Support

Suitable for

Parents whose child has recently received a diagnosis and who are unsure what happens next.

During the session, you can discuss

  • Understanding new terminology

  • Organising reports and information

  • Preparing questions for professionals

  • Communicating with family members or schools

  • Identifying your family’s most important next steps

NDIS Preparation and Navigation Support

Suitable for

Parents who are preparing to access the NDIS, attend a planning meeting or better understand their child’s plan.

Support may include

  • Understanding common NDIS terminology

  • Organising relevant information and reports

  • Preparing questions for meetings

  • Thinking through your child’s goals and support needs

  • Identifying matters you may wish to raise with an appropriate professional

Ongoing Parent Mentoring

Suitable for

Parents who would benefit from regular guidance and emotional support as their family’s circumstances develop.

Mentoring may include

  • A confidential space to talk with someone who understands

Do I need a formal diagnosis before booking?

No. Support is available whether you are noticing early signs, waiting for an assessment or navigating life after diagnosis.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. Your circumstances will be treated respectfully and confidentially, subject to the Privacy Policy and any legal obligations.

Are sessions available outside the Sunshine Coast?

Yes. Online and telephone sessions can be offered to parents throughout Australia.

Is The Spectrum Journey an NDIS provider?

No. The Spectrum Journey is an independent parent mentoring and lived-experience guidance service.
